 Black Flight Attendants of America, Inc.(BFAOA) was founded in1974 by Jacqueline Jacquet-Williams and other Aviation professionals in Los Angeles ,CA "Serving the skies and the community and promoting the legacy of Black History in Aviation" became the focus/motto of BFAOA, Inc. The First National Meeting was in Atlanta, GA. Other chapters were established.

 

Jacquet-Williams has spanned the globe as a lifetime volunteer for 10 summer and winter Olympic Games and Los Angeles Marathon.  She entertained US Troops in Vietnam and Thailand.

 

She is one of the 1st women in aviation honored by BCF (Bessie Coleman Foundation).  Her greatest pride is her organization's stamp of approval by the FAA when a national convention was sponsored.

BFAOA, Inc.
is a nonprofit organization founded in 1974 by professional men and women, and its goals are to promote and foster racial ethnic diversity and necessary skills to compete in the aviation industry.

 

Membership is open to all who share our common goal of "SERVING THE SKIES AND THE COMMUNITY" WHILE EXPOSING YOUTH TO "CAREERS IN AVIATION".  Members continue to mentor and volunteer in their perspective communities throughout the country and across the globe.

 

The organization provides on-going programs to the community through events and volunteerism at local schools, hospitals and community functions, through tutoring and participation.

 

Often while working with The Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals, Inc. (OBAP) across the country, BFAOA Inc., has volunteered in ACE camps, Boy Scout Track and Field events and most notably The LA Marathon for over 30 years.  MLK Hospital (for over 40 years) has been the recipient of Christmas Carols, toys and now a reading corner in the Social Service Department waiting room can be seen and utilized when children go in for medical appointments.
